In this article you will learn how to properly reset your Control4 controller in the case that is goes offline. Most often, a controller goes offline due to a power outage or network loss. An image of Control4's various controllers can be seen below. The new EA series controllers can be seen on the right, while the previous HC series is on the left






Please follow the step by step instructions:


  1. Once power is restored in the home unplug the cable modem, the network router and your Control4 controller.                                                                                                   (Note: Modems from the major internet providers are actually router and modem combinations. Unless you have upgraded your network equipment and added a                     separate router, you will only need to unplug the modem and the C4 controller.)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         
  2. Once the network hardware and Control4 controller are unplugged, plug in the cable modem and wait for it to come online completely.                                                                                             
  3. When the modem is back online, plug in the network router and again, wait for it to come online completely. (Skip this step if using a modem/router combo)                                            
  4. After the router is back online, then plug in the Control4 controller.                                                                                                                                                                                    
  5. Make sure that this order is followed and that each piece is fully online before the next item is plugged in. If the network is not fully reestablished, the controller will enter standby mode and will not connect to the network.
